PATENT PENDING TECHNOLOGY
…
Working in the snow & ice industry, every part we (906 Engineering Corporation) design needs to be able to hold up to the worst of environments. Weather proof sealed enclosures can be purchased on-line, but in most cases they are bulky and expensive. Here at 906 Engineering, we always felt that it didn’t have to be that way. So, our engineering team went to work and below is what we have developed. Many of these innovations that follow are currently patent pending, contact us if you have any interest in these products.

The PCB’s (8 or 16 Circuits)
…
With most electronics today, it all revolves around the PCB (Printed Circuit Board). They are the brains of the entire operation, and because of that they can be pricey to design and produced. So anything that can be done to lower cost, helps a lot. Our team has developed a header free PCB that utilizes the edge of the circuit board as the connector header. The board edge is designed to mimic the individual male terminals of a connector, which saves on PCB parts. See Diagram (A) which shows our 8 circuit PCB. Diagram (B) shows that by stacking PCB’s you can have 16 circuits.

The 16 Circuit Connector Enclosure
…
For our current enclosures, we chose to utilized the Aptiv GT 280 Series 16-Way Sealed Connector. It is a very good sealed connector that has been around for decades and it is very affordable. Both the connector and the PCB’s are designed to except wire gauges from 10 to 22. Diagram (C) shows how the 2 PCB’s plug directly into the connector.
NOTE: Our edge terminal PCB’s can be designed to work with many sealed connector series, not just the GT 280 Series.
To complete this 16 circuit module, we designed an enclosure that utilizes the existing sealing that is already in the connector, to provide protection to the circuit boards. Diagram (D) shows the entire 16 circuit sealed module.

The 32 Circuit Connector Enclosure
…
16 circuits is pretty cool, but 32 is even cooler. So, we took the design and doubled it up. By opening both ends of the enclosure, we were able to double the amount of inputs/outputs, which really opens up these enclosures to a wider variety of applications. Diagram (E) shows our double sided PCB.
NOTE: These enclosures are limited to 8, 16 or 32 circuit. But, by daisy chaining, or linking multiple modules together, there is no limit to the number of circuits a system could have.

Diagram (F) is one double sided PCB. 16 Circuits.
Diagram (G) is two double sided PCB’s. 32 Circuits.
…
Diagram (H) is 906 Engineering’s double sided enclosure module. It is shown below molded in clear but it could be molded in any solid color. There is an inserted PCB lock that holds the PCB’s in position and allows the unit to be a stand alone electronic module. The lock and the PCB’s can be removed from the enclosure if needed.
NOTE: We typically mold these enclosures clear to allow for LED indicators on the PCB to be visible to the operator. Important information like, is the power ON or OFF, is there an issue (diagnostics), which mode may be ON currently are all possible by using visible indicators.

Diagram (J) shows the in-line double sided module with decal labeling and mounting screws. Customer specific decals are available, and with the use of spacers (not shown), multi-module stacking can be easily achieved.

Need More Power?
…
If your looking at our 906 Engineering enclosures/modules and saying, “I need more power,” then, check this out. One side of our double sided module can be converted into a high current electrical module (6-8 gauge). By utilizing the same header-less PCB design as earlier, we have created a high current alternative that on our double sided enclosure, would transform it into an All-In-One unit for both high & low current applications.
Diagram (K) shows the high current PCB with large capacitors.
Diagram (L) shows how the high current sealed receptacle terminals plugged to the PCB.
…
All-In-One
…
With creative and unique PCB design, the two PCB’s from the low current side of the enclosure can be made to attach to (board to board connectors) and work with the center high current PCB. This creates a powerful and compact all-in-one electrical module.
…
…
The full All-In-One module is complete by adding a high current sealed terminal guide that latches on to the enclosure. See Diagram (N).
…
Note: These modules are designed to fit into tight locations. Both enclosures (single & double sided) are 2 1/2” wide and around 1“ tall. The one sided enclosure is 3 3/4” long and the double sided is 5 1/2” long.
